Case studies

Case-based resources that link history, exposure, molecular results, and clinical reasoning.

Case format

MAA case studies are intended to teach reasoning. Each case should make the clinical question explicit, show the relevant molecular pattern, and discuss how interpretation changes when history and exposure are included.

AClinical context

Age, symptoms, exposure history, relevant comorbidities, and the reason testing was requested.

BTesting pattern

Extract sensitisation, component results, total IgE context where relevant, and known limitations of the testing approach.

CInterpretation discussion

What the pattern might suggest, what remains uncertain, and what additional clinical information is needed.

DTeaching points

Concise takeaways for future cases, including cross-reactivity, risk, referral, and communication issues.
